Located in the northern highlands of Tanzania, beneath the twin peaks of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru, Arusha is the safari capital of the country. It was first built by the Germans as a center of colonial administration in the early 20th century, and now has a population of 1.3 million. It is also the site for the United Nations Criminal Tribunal on the Rwandan genocide. |
